Arthur “Jerry” Kremer
Hall of Fame
You would be hard pressed to find an elected official who has so successfully parlayed a career in politics and then moved on, continuing to be seen as a statesman. The former 23-year New York State Assemblyman was the chair of the powerful Ways and Means committee—the only Long Islander to ever hold the seat—and since has kept up his public image as if he were still there. Kremer is simply everywhere: on charitable boards, active in community organizations and is a common vision on television during campaigns, elections or other political bouts. Year after year, Kremer has been an easy vote to be a member of the Power List. As a lawyer, he has long lobbying arms with a big reach to Albany and Washington, D.C. Kremer does not have a lot of free time. He serves as a trustee for Hofstra University, has a seat on the board of overseers at Tilles Center, chairs the annual FOLIO luncheon for the Fair Media Council and is instrumental in helping to guide the Young People’s Chorus of New York City. Kremer is one of those LI faces that everyone recognizes. It will be that way for years to come.
