Vitale, a Bonnano family boss known as “The Chief,” was already under federal indictment for extortion and money laundering and confined to his home when he was arrested again recently on new charges. Caridi, an alleged underboss of the Luchese family who lives in East Northport, was also recently arrested. But they’ll probably be able to keep working upstate, making new contacts if nothing else.
