The Tilles family made their money—lots of it—doing real estate development on Long Island, but Roger Tilles is now making his mark as a civic leader in the fields of arts and education. He cut his teeth as Long Island University’s board chairman, but now leaves that post for an arguably more influential one. He was appointed by the governor last month to represent LI on the New York State Board of Regents.
