25. Sal Ferro
2014 Power List
Champions keep fighting no matter what the odds. Ferro once again beat the odds by raising the most money to date in the notorious “Fight for Charity,” one of most talked-about and ingenious fundraisers on Long Island. Add this to the list of charitable endeavors that Ferro has supported over the years and even Floyd Mayweather would be impressed. When the country was hit hard by the economic recession, Ferro dug in and did what few CEOs were able to do. He continued building Alure Home Improvements into one of the nation’s largest home remodeling companies and continued raising money for countless nonprofit organizations that were also hit hard. Like others on this list, Ferro recognizes that for his company to be strong, the community it serves must also be strong. When your company is known as much for the charities it supports as it is for the work it does, it’s a one-two punch that deserves recognition.
