26. Marc Beige
2012 Power List
In the epic battle between Wall Street and the Occupy movement an unlikely victor has emerged right here on Long Island. Every time an occupier dons the movement’s signature “V” for Vendetta mask, the register rings at Rubie’s Costume Company, the corporation that owns the license to the likeness. While no one could have predicted this particular corporate twist, Rubie’s President Marc Beige has been keeping this family-owned giant focused and growing since taking the reins in 1972. Beige keeps a remarkably low profile for a man who runs a multi-national organization that exists for children everywhere to dress up and have fun. With the opening of the stunning Rubie Corporate Plaza on Route 110, it’s high time to unmask our humble hero and introduce the man behind all of our capes.
