3. Scott Rechler
2012 Power List
Scott Rechler and his Uniondale-based RXR Realty have not been idle since the last edition of the Power List. Last June, Gov. Andrew Cuomo appointed him to the Board of Commissioners of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and by September, Rechler became vice-chairman. Last August, Rechler’s RXR made its largest move yet in Manhattan, with the $920 million acquisition of the iconic Starrett-Lehigh building, overlooking the Hudson River. Here on Long Island, Rechler’s RXR now has 6 million square feet of prime office space. Earlier this year RXR got approval to redevelop one of the most prominent waterfront sites in the Glen Isle project in Glen Cove. He’s one very busy man.
