Years ago, when Ramirez was fighting with then-Glen Cove Mayor Tom Suozzi, the pastor went so far as to parade a casket into an event to illustrate how immigrants without a hiring hall would freeze to death on the sidewalks. He has since made peace with Suozzi, and now serves as Nassau’s Commissioner of Minority Affairs. But his sights are now set on Suffolk’s Levy, and the battle over illegal immigration has reached new levels. Bet on Ramirez to continue to shake it up even further this year.
