34. Hubert Keen, Ph.D.
2012 Power List
Before becoming the eighth president of Farmingdale State College, Hubert Keen spent 18 years rising through the ranks, from coordinator of environmental science programs to provost and vice president for academic affairs. Under Keen’s leadership, the college has been named one of the best in the North, one of the safest campuses in the nation, and one of the top 100 public colleges and universities in terms of earning power of graduates. Keen also established the Green Building Institute and arranged $185 million in campus construction projects—now that’s exceptional power. Currently celebrating its 100th Anniversary, the Farmingdale State College of today is a thriving technology and research institution and a major economic engine for the region, in no small part to Keen.
