Amper is a man with a passion for the environment and a verbal zeal to match. Coming off his hard-won November victory, when LI voters approved more than $255 million in open space bonds, he joined up recently with the Anti-Broadwater Coalition to prevent a natural gas facility from parking in the LI Sound. We note, as well, Amper’s overdue recognition of affordable housing as a complement—not competitor—to open space.
