Frederick Brewington
Hall of Fame
Frederick Brewington is more than just a star local civil rights attorney. He’s also a force for good and an agent for change. Besides defending the wrongfully accused and police brutality victims, he has positively impacted entire communities. Take, for instance, when he sued the Village of Garden City for enacting a zoning ordinance that effectively kept affordable housing units—and by extension, minority residents—out. When he won, the village was ordered to allow such developments, enabling countless future generations of residents to enjoy all the perks of living in what’s billed as “America’s First Planned Community.” Now, multiply that significant victory by the hundreds upon hundreds of cases he’s tried, and you’ll begin to understand just how many lives Brewington has improved. When Fred fights the law, Fred wins, and so do everyday people. Attorney, champion of the people, purveyor of justice and beacon of hope—Frederick Brewington can now add yet another title to his long, commendable list: 2016 Power List Hall of Famer.
