As a third-party “spoiler,” the state chairman and Suffolk head of the Independence Party could be called the Ralph Nader of LI politics. He doesn’t run as a candidate himself, but still has the power to put a monkey wrench into the major parties’ plans. Several of the last election’s losing candidates who didn’t have his party’s endorsement fell by a margin that his party’s votes would have covered.
