50. Jim Condron
2016 Power List
Perhaps the best part of notifying Jim Condron of his appointment to the Power List this year was his repeated attempts to downplay his many roles and responsibilities. As senior vice president, Regional Strategies of Connoisseur Media, Condron is the face of the largest and most successful radio broadcasting group on the Island. Prior to this role, he served as general manager of WALK radio, which was one of the most successful radio stations in the region. Condron is widely regarded as a fun and unassuming team player, a reputation he solidified with the Press writers, as he seemed almost embarrassed to be singled out. While his radio career is certainly impressive, he is also one of the partners at The Paramount, which has quickly become a beloved venue on Long Island (unless you’re trying to park in Huntington Village during one of their shows) and regionally. Condron has managed to bring a little bit of cool back into an old medium, with the construction of a radio broadcast booth overlooking the street in front of the venue. What Condron may or may not realize is that by bringing back a little bit of cool to radio and incredible rock shows at The Paramount, he has helped Long Island salvage a little bit of rock and roll “street-cred,” as well.
