Louis C. Grassi is the driving force behind the steady growth of Grassi & Co., building it from a start-up practice in 1980 into one of the hundred largest accounting firms in the U.S. The practice services clients across the tri-state area from offices on Long Island, Manhattan, New Jersey, Westchester — and Italy. While providing the usual array of accounting and consulting services, Grassi & Co. has developed an usual specialty — facilitating corporate retreats. It’s a service other CPA firms are just beginning to emulate. A Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner, Grassi chairs Moore Stephens North America, an international association of more than 300 independent accounting and consulting firms. Grassi speaks frequently before business and professional organizations and has authored numerous articles on accounting and industry topics. He’s taught graduate-level finance and accounting at Columbia University, served as executive board officer for the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Grassi serves on the board of Flushing Financial Corp., a $5 billion U.S. bank as well as BRT Realty, a Real Estate Investment Trust. The Queens College grad holds a B.A. degree in Accounting. A dedicated wine enthusiast, Grassi tours some of the world’s top wine regions – and pours for friends at his Bridgehampton home. Says Grassi of the celebrated Hamptons social scene: “When I hit exit 70 all the stress in my body evaporates.”
