The Skolnick-Sky Family
Hall of Fame
The not-for-profit Cinema Arts Centre (CAC) in Huntington is really a family affair, with Charlotte Sky, Vic Skolnick and son Dylan running the show. And it’s one impressive collaboration indeed. The CAC is arguably the premier independent movie house in the country. A haven for cinema buffs, CAC introduces new and important films and brilliantly conceived lectures by world-renowned actors and directors. Wielding more power in the world of film—even the mainstream movie industry—than one would imagine, the Skolnick-Sky triad has graced the Power List for years. This family of cinemaphiles consistently keeps our collective attention, attracting film geeks and casual indie film viewers alike to come back for endlessly diverse presentations—be it documentaries, comedies, children’s movies, horrorfests, revival shows or homegrown works. Their power to entertain and inform in what many might view as an unlikely institution—the suburban art film house—is one that is firmly cemented in LI, attracting moviegoers from across the Island and beyond. Take a look at the lines that form for the next Theater of the Wild screening, if you don’t believe us.
