Wayne N. Grossé
2018 Power List
CEO, Bethpage Federal Credit Union
Soon after Bethpage Federal Credit Union, the largest credit union in New York State, named Wayne Grossé’s its permanent president and CEO in 2015 – he had been holding the position on an interim basis after the previous chief, Kirk Kordeleski, stepped down for health reasons – Grossé led a market expansion initiative that broadened Bethpage’s membership considerably. Grossé joined Bethpage in 1999 as chief operating officer, coming over from Island Federal Credit. As a lead member of Bethpage’s executive management team during a prolonged period of expansion, Grossé helped oversee Bethpage’s growth into the largest credit union on Long Island and, now, in the state, approaching $6 billion in assets. Founded in 1941 to serve Grumman employees, Bethpage has broadened its market base since federal regulators expanded the charter governing credit unions in 2003. “We believe Wayne Grossé has the vision, leadership abilities and financial industry experience to continue the fiscal strength and integrity of Bethpage Federal Credit Union,” said bank chairman Don Balducci announcing the permanent appointment. Grossé chairs the Family Service League and serves on the board of the Long Island Association. A former director of the NYCE ATM Network, Grossé has also served on the Long Island Council of the New York State Credit Union League and held board positions at the SUNY Farmingdale Foundation and the Huntington Chamber of Commerce. A graduate of Oswego State University of New York, he holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science and a Master’s in business administration from Dowling College. He and his wife Laura live in Bayport where they enjoy gardening, swimming and kayaking.
